Am I eligible for the NDIS?
Posted: 22nd October 2024
If you are aged between 9 and 65 years old, a local area coordinator can help you to understand the NDIS, apply and connect with other government and community supports.
If you have a child younger than 9, an early childhood partner can provide supports to children before they apply, and let families know if the NDIS is right their child.
Here's the basic NDIS eligibility requirements to consider:
- Are you aged between 9 and 65?
- Are you an Australian Citizen, permanent resident, or Protected Special Category Visa holder?
- Do you live in Australia?
- Do you have a disability caused by a permanent impairment?
- Do you usually need disability-specific supports to complete daily life activities?
- Do you need some supports now to reduce your future need for support?
- Do you need some supports now for your family to build their skills to help you?
If your answer to the above questions are yes, you may be eligible for the NDIS.
Here are the most common ways to apply for NDIS funding.
- You can contact your local NDIS office or local NDIS partner or call 1800 800 110 and ask for an NDIS Access Request form to be emailed or mailed to you
- Download and complete the NDIS Access Request Form on this link: https://www.ndis.gov.au/applying-access-ndis/how-apply
- Attach all supporting documents.
- Email to enquiries@ndis.gov.au or mail to PO Box 700, Canberra, ACT 2601.
